The stone

The body is moulded in a single piece. It has the look of travertine, the stone of the Colosseum: matte and porous, pitted with small hollows. It feels like lifting rock, yet weighs less than a bottle of water.

The leather

The handle is cut from full-grain calfskin and mounted on a rigid core. Its edge is dyed, then burnished by hand. It keeps its curve, even empty.

The brass

One rivet, one snap, one buckle: all the metal on the piece comes down to three points of gilded brass. The Maison adds nothing more.

The number

On the back of the piece, a brass disc set flush with the stone carries your numeral, engraved one at a time. The seam of gold in the rock.

The Maison

Maison Strata was born in Paris, in the Marais, of an obsession brought back from the South: to give an object carried every day the presence of stone.

The Maison lives between Paris and Provence. The form is drawn in Paris; the stone finds its own in the South. The travertine, worn at under six hundred and fifty grams, came out of long work with an engineer, and each piece is shaped and finished in a workshop in the hills behind Aix-en-Provence.

The first Strate is set at one hundred pieces, each numbered and engraved. It will not be issued again.
